Bozeman Captures For Title Since 1917

It took nearly 100 years, but Bozeman is celebrating a state football championship.

Bozeman beat Helena 28-7 to win Montana's Class AA title.  The Hawks finished the season a perfect 13-0.

The Hawks raced-out to a 21-0 lead behind quarterback Tanner Roderick, who rushed for 185-yards and a touchdown, plus threw for another 68-yards.

Montana High School Football Pre-Season Practice Begins August 13th

Welcome to our new look for the 2010 Montana high school football season!

With the first day of practice beginning August 13th, I wanted to take the time to thank all of my readers, who have made this blog successful over the past three years.  I have bigger-and-better things planned this year with more original content.

Also, don't forget to check-out High School Football America for great high school football stories from around the country.  If you have story ideas that I should know about, please feel free to email me.

Here's a look at important dates for the 2010 season...

First Practice - August 13th (AA, A, C-8); August 16th (B, C-6)
Regular Season Begins - August 27th

Playoffs  - October 30th
Championships November 19th-20th

Great Falls Elevates Assistant to Head Football Coach

The Great Falls Tribune is reporting  that after 10 years as an assistant at Great Falls High School, Matt Krahe has been promoted to head coach.

Krahe takes over for Gregg Dart, who was 57-60 in eleven seasons.  Great Falls finished 1-9 last year.

Helena High Football Coach Named Head Coach of Montana Squad for Badlands Bowl

Helena High head football coach Tony Arntson has been named head coach of the Montana All-Star team for the 17th annual Knights of Columbus Badlands Bowl on June 19th at Dickinson State University in North Dakota.

Arntson, who coached the Montana stars to a win 2002 over the North Dakota all-stars, will now begin working with his assistant coaches to select 33 players from across Montana. Arnston's assistant are...Scott Evans of Helena High, Steve Pinsoneault of Frenchtown, John Smith of Columbus, Tyson Byers of Shelby and Jim Oberweiser of Drummond.

State championships usually mean post-season honors for players and coaches, and that's the case when it comes to the 2009 Montana Coaches Association's Coach of the Year Awards. The head coaches of all five 2009 Montana high school football champions have been named Coach of the Year in their respective categories.
